In today’s world, this journey HAS to start with the internet.
Getting online can feel like a small luxury to us. However, to the 22% of people in our community who don’t have basic internet skills, the internet can feel terrifying, like an entire world they have been shut out from.
There is a clear relationship between digital exclusion and isolation with 77% of people seeing internet access is now an essetial need.
Tea and T’internet is here to help bridge that gap, having supported thousands of people since 2017, we are the go to experts for Digital Inclusion.
Our Award winning Tea and T’internet project is specifically designed to help people who have never used the internet before start to get online safely.
This project, lasting 12-weeks and 2 hours per week, supports groups of up to 15 people learn their internet basics in a safe and supportive environment.
The sessions are designed to be informal and give people a space to enjoy each other company, while learning vital internet skills.
Each week, our specially trained team guide the group to work together on a new digital topic. Some of the topics include:
- Staying safe online
- Turning devices on and off
- Staying in contact with friends and family
This project has been proven to provide a positive impact to the community, with a calculated Social Return on investment of £6.24 for every £1 invested.
When you invest in your own project, we can calculate your bespoke Social Return on Investment so you can be sure that your project has made a positive impact on your community.
We believe our participants know best. So, every project is tailored to that group, we can adapt the lessons to match yours or their aims.
To make sure that everyone gets a chance to learn, we can provide everything needed to run the sessions, from equipment for people to learn on, some amazing handmade cakes and even WiFi if the venue we are running the session has no internet access.
Our experience has shown us that for training to be effective, it needs to be practical. Therefore, all of the sessions we run are based on real world skills which people can use straight away.
One example of this practical teaching is our use of QR codes in ordering drinks. As we have seen the rise of QR codes to access menus or order in restaurants, we have adapted our teaching. Now, we train participants to scan a QR code and order their tea and coffee via an online form. This demonstrates our emphasis on practical learning in a fun and creative way. We even let you know how many drinks have been ordered using this method!
At DigiKick, we believe that the internet should be a bridge, not a barrier. Work with us to guide your community into world where EVERYONE can feel connected online.
